Nemmara Division

Nemmara Division has been formed in 1.7.1958 as per the notification vide G.P.F(A)1-5050/1957 AD dated 26.11.1957 by unifying the Nelliyampathy Range of Thrissur Division, Parambikulam Range of Chalakkudy Division and Sungham Range of Coimbatore Division. The Sungham Range and Parambikulam Range were separated from Nemmara Division in 1.7.1985. Thereafter, the Forest Division within Palakkad Revenue District viz. Palakkad, Palakkad Special and Nemmara Forest Divisions were unified and re-organised to form Divisions and Ranges with compact administrative units of areas in consonance with the District/Taluk boundaries vide G.O.(MS) 121/89/F&WLD dated 28.12.1989 for administrative convenience. Parambikulam Wildlife Division was retained as such and hence no alterations were made in its boundaries. Thus, the present Nemmara Forest Division was formed with Headquarters at Nemmara, consisting of 205.517Sq.Km of Reserve Forests and 150.7145Sq.Km. of Vested Forests within the Revenue Taluks of Chittur and Alathur, excluding the area of Wildlife Division.
