Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary


22 EDCs function in the Sanctuary out of which 15 are active EDCs participating in Forest Department’s activities. The major field of involvement of the EDC’s as far as Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is concerned is in (i)Fire Protection (ii) Ecotourism Activities (iii) General Protection of the Sanctuary. Fire protection activities including tracing of fire lines are being done through the committees formed from EDC’s. The Neyyar Ecotourism Eco-Development Committee (NET EDC) is assisting in conducting the Ecotourism packages in the Sanctuary. 18 members are actively participating in the conduct of the said Ecotourism packages which includes boating in the reservoir, Visit to Lion Safari Park, Crocodile Park etc. Daily wage protection mazdoors are also selected from EDC members and are engaged in the protection activities at various locations inside the Sanctuary.  Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary


A total of 5 EDC’s namely Cherumangal, Podiyam, Podiyakkala, Bonacord and Chathancodu functions in the sanctuary and is working together with Forest Department in the overall protection of the sanctuary. The major field of involvement of the EDC’s as far as Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary is concerned is in (i)Fire Protection (ii) Ecotourism Activities (iii) General Protection of the Sanctuary. Fire protection activities including tracing of fire lines are being done through the committees formed from EDC’s. Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary


There are a total of 9 EDC’s and 1 SET EDC functioning in the sanctuary. The Shendurney Ecotourism Eco-Development Committee (SET EDC) comprises of 18 members taken from the other 9 EDC’s. this EDC is assisting in conducting the Ecotourism packages in the Sanctuary. 18 members are actively participating in the conduct of the said Ecotourism packages which includes boating in the Reservoir, visit to Deer Rehabilitation Centre etc. The major field of involvement of the EDC’s as far as Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary is concerned is in (i)Fire Protection (ii) Ecotourism Activities (iii) General Protection of the Sanctuary. Fire protection activities including tracing of fire lines are being done through the committees formed from EDC’s.
