Location and packages-

An ecotourism package at Neyyar incorporating boating, visit to Lion Safari Park, Crocodile park, Deer rehabilitation centre is available in this sanctuary.   The present  fee for this package is Rs. 200  /= per head for Indians (children Rs. 100  /= per head ) and Rs. 300  /= per head for foreigners (children Rs. 150  /= per head ). Students concession rate is Rs. 100  /= per head.

In addition to this various trekking packages like one day trekking, two days trekking, three days trekking etc. through the interior of the forests are also conducted at Neyyar

Boating is also available in the Neyyar reservoir. Half an hour boating and one hour boating are available. For half an hour boating the rate is Rs. 400/= for 10 persons and for one hour boating the fee is Rs. 1200/= for 10 persons. The sanctuary entry fee will be collected extra to this. (Indian Rs.10/= per head per day and for foreigners Rs. 100/= per head per day)

The eco shop functioning in Neyyar sanctuary is the out let of forest produces like honey, etc. being run by Neyyar Ecotourism Eco-development Committee.

  • The visitors can visit the Elephant Rehabilitation and Rescue Centre functioning at Kottoor from Neyyar sanctuary as part of  ecotourism package.
  • The interpretation centre for medicinal plants established at Marakkunnam in Neyyar Sanctuary harbours a good number of medicinal plants , which is open to visitors.
  • Different trekking packages are available in Peppara sanctuary as ecotourism programme. Two day trekking for visitors to Pandipath will be regularly arranged as protection oriented ecotourism programme. For a group of 5 persons the amount charged is Rs. 4000/= in addition to the expenses of food.
  • Visit to Vazhvanthol water fall at Peppara will be arranged from here  for the visitors @ Rs. 35/= per head is also available.
  • In Agasthyavanam Biological Park range, the feeding of elephants can be watched by visitors  from a shed constructed for the purpose. A canteen is being run by  Kottoor Ecotourism Eco-development Committee where local food is served. The visitors can avail the facility of elephant ride here. One can stay and enjoy the scenic beauty of the forests and the Elephant Rehabilitation Centre from the cottages constructed near by Neyyar reservoir. The package consists of  food, accommodation, trekking , elephant ride etc @ Rs. 2000/ = per head . For foreigners the amount charged is  Rs. 3000/-. Per head.   • In Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary the Thenmala Ecotourism Promotion Society is coordinating and managing the ecotourism activities jointly with Forest Department.. The Thenmala Ecotourism Project, the first of its kind in India is making use of the land and water area of the sanctuary adds colour to the prominence of the sanctuary and its role in nature education and promoting ecologically sustainable tourism. The Deer Rehabilitation Center managed by the Forest Department which houses Spotted and Sambar Deers attracts a large number of visitors. Along with this, the boating in the reservoir enables the tourists to discover the hidden fauna of Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary.
