Nature Camps



Education and Interpretation are the main tools of Biodiversity Conservation. Hence regular nature camps are being conducted in Neyyar Wildlife sanctuary,  in Peppara Wildlife sanctuary and  in Shendurney Wildlife sanctuary of this  Wildlife circle. Nature camps will be conducted in the ABP range also.

During 2011-12, 83 nos of nature camps were conducted in Neyyar Wildlife sanctuary, 29 nos in Peppara Wildlife sanctuary and 81 nos in Shendurney Wildlife sanctuary.

Generally two/three days camps are being conducted for the participants. Maximum number is limited to 40 nos in each camp.

The main target group of the nature camp is student community from schools and colleges. They can apply for Nature camps to the concerned Wildlife Wardens through the head of their institution. The other groups targeted for Nature Awareness Camps are media persons, elected members from various local bodies, charitable/ non-governmental youth organization. The media persons shall apply through the Press Club to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden. The elected members from various local bodies shall also apply to the concerned Wildlife Wardens and charitable/ non-governmental youth organization shall apply through the office bearers of the respective organization to the Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), ABP.
